TNM-FH insect culture medium is an improved Grace’s insect medium, which can be used for the culture of various lepidopteran insect cells with appropriate additives.

Grace’s Insect Culture Medium

Grace’s insect culture medium is Wyatt’s medium modified by Grace, which is more chemically similar to insect hemolymph. Grace used this medium to successfully establish the first continuous insect cell line. Grace’s insect culture medium was originally applied to the cultivation of Antherea eucalyptus cells in Australia. With proper additives, Grace’s insect culture medium can be used to culture various kinds of insect cells, including many lepidopterists and some dipterids.

Grace’s Supplementary Insect Cell Culture Medium

Grace’s Supplementary Insect cell culture medium was originally designed to grow the cells of Antherea Eucalyptus Eucalyptus, a white star and orange moth from Australia. Grace’s supplemented insect culture medium is now widely used for the growth of Armyworm cells Sf9 and Sf21. Sf9 and Sf21 cells are routinely used in the baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) to express recombinant proteins.
