Skills and characteristics of DNA flocking swab

First, what is flocking swab?

The top of the flocking swab is nylon fiber structure. The nylon fibers are deposited on the surface of the plastic rod in a certain direction by electrostatic field in order to form a brush layer, which is fully parallel to each other and perpendicular to the surface of the inner rod. DNA is collected through the brush head. At present, COPAN4N6 FLOQSwabs flocking swab has been patented in China, the United States, Japan and other countries and regions.

  1. What are the advantages of flocking swab in DNA collection?

Sample collection process: The unique structure at the top of flocking swab can greatly increase the number of samples collected.

Sample precipitation process: The brush layer structure can release almost all the collected samples.

  1. Why is flocking swab more advantageous for microDNA acquisition?

Traditional cotton swabs, because of the internal structure of cotton filament winding at the top of the swabs, make the samples dispersed and stayed in the fibers during sampling, resulting in lower efficiency of DNA precipitation and even false negative results of testing.

The unique structure at the top of the flocking swab can almost completely extract and precipitate a very small amount of DNA, so the flocking swab has more obvious advantages in microDNA acquisition.

  1. The principle of DNA collection and precipitation by flocking swab?

(1) By the directional wiping effect of the brush-like fibrous layer, the cell samples can be completely recovered.

(2) Since cell samples are concentrated near the surface of brush fibers, about 90% of absorbed samples can be released eventually.

(3) The capillary movement between nylon fibers at the top of the flocking swab forms a strong hydraulic pressure to absorb liquid or cell samples.
